Accessing the features mentioned in this article
Where can I find this feature using the top menu?
- Inventory > Item Events
What more do I need to use this feature?
-
Admin or restricted permissions to view and manage events and rules.
Which Checkfront version supports this feature - Classic Items, Classic Products, or both?
- Your account must have access to classic items (Inventory > Items), which is a key feature of our Classic Items version of Checkfront.
Creating a new Item Rule Set
- Go to Inventory > Item Events.
- In the left sidebar, click + New Rule Set.
You can create as many custom Rule Sets as you need. For example, you might create a Rule Set for an Item Event (such as a seasonal promotion) or a Discount Event.
|
New rules do not override existing rule sets Applying a new Rule Set to an item does not override any existing Rule Sets. Multiple Rule Sets can apply at the same time. |
Example
Suppose you create an event that offers a 10% booking discount on hotel rooms during a specific period. To qualify for the discount, Customers must book a minimum stay of three nights.
- In your Rule Set, activate the Minimum Duration Per Item rule and set its value to 3.
- When creating the event, attach the new Rule Set.
- The discount is only applied if the customer books 3 nights or more.
Default vs. Custom Rule Sets
Use the default Rule Set for rules that apply across your entire inventory.
Example: If you always require a minimum 3-night stay for accommodations, set this rule in the default Rule Set.
Use custom Rule Sets for special scenarios or promotions.
Example: Seasonal discounts, event-specific restrictions, or custom booking conditions.
|
Custom and default rule sets If you use a custom Rule Set, turn off any matching Item Rules in the default Rule Set. Default rules automatically override custom ones. |
