- Your account must have access to classic items (Inventory > Items), a key feature of our Classic Items version of Checkfront.
Configuring taxes
Once you configure any taxes or service fees in your account, they are listed here, and you can apply them to the item in focus. You can:
- Click the Status button to turn a tax on or off.
- Click the Edit button to configure the tax details.
- Click the Create New Tax/Fee button to add a new tax.

Configuring deposits
Deposits default to Using system settings (Manage > Ecommerce Setup > Settings). Depending on the system setting, Customers may be required to pay a deposit (either a percentage or a fixed amount) at the time of booking.
- If you want a different setup for a specific item, open the drop-down menu and select an alternative option. You can choose from:

Configuring additional options
Click the Additional options link to reveal extra settings such as commissions, package pricing percentage, and ecommerce payments, as described below.
Enabling commissions
Have you set up Partner accounts? If so, you can set the commission rate for your item using the Commission Amount field. Turn on the Commission toggle, enter a value, and choose whether it's a percentage or a flat fee amount.

Specifying the package price percentage
Here, you can specify a global custom price percentage to adjust the cost of this item when it is attached to a package.
For example, if the item costs typically $100 but you set a 50% package percentage, the item contributes $50 toward the total package price.
Enabling ecommerce payments
The ecommerce toggle determines whether customers see a Payment page during booking:
Ecommerce ON: Customers complete payment before finalizing the booking.
Ecommerce OFF: The system skips the Payment step, and Customers go straight to the Guest Details or the Receipt page.
Turning ecommerce off is helpful when offering free items, such as complimentary tickets, where no payment is required.
