General gift certificate settings allow you to tailor the look, functionality, and policies of your certificates to match your business needs. In this article, you’ll learn how to add branding elements, manage default themes, customize terms and refund information, include personalized messages, and set expiry rules, giving you full control over how your certificates appear and operate.

Accessing gift certificate settings
There are some default settings you can apply to your gift certificates. You can find these via the Gift Certificate Settings link in the left sidebar of the primary Gift Certificates page.
You can add a company logo to display on gift certificates, edit your default gift certificate themes, add terms and conditions, customize the sender of refunds, and specify a default expiry date.
Adding gift certificate logos
To display your company logo at the top of each gift certificate:
- Go to Inventory > Gift Certificates.
- Click Gift Certificate Settings at the top of the left-hand menu.
- Click the + Upload Image button.
- Choose to open an image from your computer.
Removing gift certificate logos
To remove any logo you currently have in place:
- Hover over the logo setting with your mouse.
- Click the white trashcan icon in the top-right corner.
- Click the Yes, Delete button to remove the image permanently.
Using default themes
Gift Certificate Settings is the place to manage your default gift certificate themes. If you are unlikely to use the default themes provided by Checkfront, then you can replace them here with your designs.
Uploading themes
Follow these steps:
- Click the Upload a Theme button.
- Next, a warning message states that uploading a theme permanently removes the default themes provided by Checkfront. Simply continue with your upload.
- Finally, select a theme from your computer and repeat the process as often as necessary until you have uploaded all your themes. You can upload three default themes, after which the upload button disappears.
Editing themes
Hover over a theme and click the Edit Image button to crop, as seen earlier in this guide.
Removing themes
Click on the white trashcan icon to remove the theme.
Specifying terms and conditions
If you'd like to add any terms and conditions to your gift certificates, please enter them here in the text box provided.
Providing default refund information
You can customize the default information for refunds made to gift certificates. You can choose the name of the person providing the refund - the Company Name, Issuer Name, or Custom Name.
Adding messages to your gift certificates
If you want to print a message on each gift certificate, for example, thanking the Customer for their business, input the text in the box provided.
Select an expiry date
Finally, you can choose a specific expiry date for the gift certificates. Choose from:
- Indefinitely - An indefinite expiry date, meaning the gift certificates are open-ended.
- Days after Issued - you can enter a specific number of days after issue for the gift certificates to expire. This setting defaults to 365 days.
