Showcasing Your Checkfront Inventory in Site Builder
You've created an inventory of items or products in Checkfront so now it's time to share it with the World! But what's the best way to do that?
Well, perhaps there isn't a best way, but there are certainly multiple ways from which you can choose when designing your Site Builder website.
Item/Product PageBack to top
The first way to showcase your inventory that we're going to look at is an item or product page.
Clicking on the Inventory link in your main navigation bar takes the user to an unorganized list of your inventory items or products as configured in Checkfront.
If you've used the category filter in your site design, then the user can then drill down through your inventory by selecting one or more categories.
If you want to showcase an item or product individually, then you can do so by using the menu bar in a slightly different way.
In this case, you create a link in the menu bar that navigates the user directly to an item or product page.
For more information on using your Site Builder navigation menus, please see this knowledge base article. This shows you how to create the submenus described here.
In this example, we've created a Submenu labelled Featured Items. This submenu then contains links to three items or products we want to draw the user's attention to.
When selecting one of the items or products, the user is taken directly to that page.
When adding a link to the menu you select Item as the link type and then choose the specific one you want to use from the Destination drop-down.
Category PageBack to top
In just the same way we showcased an individual item or product above, the same can be done for an individual category.
When you first activate your Site Builder site, it comes with a link to your categories in the main menu bar at the top of your page.
If it's not there, then you need to add it to your navigation bar. This displays all your categories.
If, however, you want to link to a specific category, then you can do so by creating a direct link in the menu bar.
When adding a link to the menu you select Category as the link type and choose the specific one you want to use from the Destination drop-down.
Inventory BlockBack to top
The Inventory Block is a type of content block. You can add these to your pages to showcase a particular item(s) or product(s) from your Checkfront account.
For more information on using your Site Builder content blocks, please see this knowledge base article. This shows you how to create the inventory blocks described here.
It's a great way to show off your best rooms or feature the items or products you might have on sale that week.
You are limited to the number of content blocks that can be added to a page, so use them wisely. Showcasing one or two items or products at most, per page, generally gets the best out of your content.
