1. Creating conversion actions in Google Ads
Back to topSetting up ad tracking with Checkfront is easy! First, log into your Google Ads account.
Click the Create button from the left side menu. Select the Conversion action option from the dropdown that shows.
Next, select the source of the conversion you want to track. Click the Website tile to proceed.
You must input your website domain in the Add conversion actions step and select the Scan link.
When the scan completes, choose the +Add a conversion action manually option from the Create conversion actions manually using code section.
On the next screen, Conversion action details, there are three settings you need to consider for our configuration. Each setting can be configured to suit your needs, with some exceptions explained in detail below.
Goal And Action Optimization
You need to select Purchase as the Goal category for this action.
For Conversion action optimization options, you can choose the best option for your purpose.
Conversion Name
Input a name for the conversion. Something simple and related to Checkfront is best. In our example above, we use 'Checkfront Bookings'.
Value
Select the second option Use different values for each conversion to measure the impact of your advertising.
You can assign whatever default value you wish as the value is picked up from your items/products in Checkfront, so you don't need to worry about this too much.
To include transaction-specific values instead, you must customize your conversion tracking tag using a Custom Receipt URL. Find out more about transaction-specific values here: |
When ready, click Done and Agree and continue in the main area.
2. Tracking Tag Installation
Back to topAfter setting up your conversion action in Google Ads, it's time to review and install your tag.
Checkfront requires two pieces of information from the code provided to you by Google Ads. These are the Conversion ID and the Conversion Label.
To locate the pieces of code you need, click on the Use Google Tag Manager tab found in the Get instructions and finish step when creating a conversion.
The following screen displays the two codes you need. Make a note of these values for the next step.
Once you note that information, click Done to save your progress and head to your account at Checkfront.
To edit or view an existing conversion entry, such as to find the Conversion ID and Conversion Label at a later time, in the Overview area choose Manage conversions. Select the conversion action from the list that you want to view. |
