Recording payments in the Android mobile booking app
You can use the Android Mobile Booking App to record a payment against one of your invoices in Checkfront.
To get started, search for the invoice to which you would like to apply the payment.
Square is the supported Payment Provider for our mobile apps. Learn more about our Square integration here... |
Recording payments
Back to topWhen viewing the invoice, you can see an overview of the items that have been reserved, including the total and balance due. Directly below this is a Payments button. Tap on this to continue.
On the following screen (above right), you see a list of transactions already applied to the invoice (highlighted in yellow) and the current balance due on the booking. Below are two buttons, Take Payment (1) and Record Payment (2).
Take Payment:Please note that the Take Payment button is only displayed if the Square Payment Provider is active in your Checkfront Booking Manager. |
Take payment button
Back to topThe Take Payment button enables you to process a live credit card transaction through the app, via the Square mobile booking app, which you must also have installed on your device.
Please review our knowledge base article on Square payments to learn more about this process.
This button is not displayed if you have not activated the Square Payment Provider in your Checkfront Booking Manager.
After tapping the Take Payment button, you can attach a note to the booking and whether or not you wish to show that on the invoice. If you do, touch the switch to turn it on. The note you enter here is then added to the invoice.
The balance due is automatically entered in the Amount field, which can be changed to whatever value you wish.
When ready, tap the Pay (Amount Due) On Credit button below to continue with the Square payment. You are now redirected to the Square app on your device.
Select the Credit Card option and on the next screen, either enter the card details manually or swipe the card if you are set up to do that. Follow the rest of the process in Square, and when you return to the Checkfront app, you can see the payment recorded on the booking's Payment screen.
Tap on the recorded payment to open the Payment Details screen. From here, you can issue a refund via Square if you wish.
That refund is then added to the payments screen in the Checkfront app, and you can view it in the Square app.
Record payment button
Back to topThe Record Payment button is slightly different because it allows you to simply record a payment that has already been taken outside the app, such as a POS cash transaction.
Enter the payment value you wish to record, choose a payment type from the dropdown menu, and hit the Record... button.
You can then see the Payments screen again, and the transaction you just entered is added to the transactions list. As in the image above, the blue payment buttons are greyed out if no balance is due on the invoice.
