The BasicsBack to top
How much does Purchase Protection cost the payee?
The amount of the fee is calculated by FanShield, LLC and depends on the value of the protected Item in the booking. (Checkfront is not privy to this calculation.)
Do I need to collect payment for the coverage?
No! Payment is collected directly by TourShield during the booking process.
Do I need a deposit or refund/cancellation policy if I have Purchase Protection enabled?
That’s really your call! If your Customer has protected a booking, you do not need to offer a refund for their cancellations. You should only be providing money to them in the event that:
You cancel the event for whatever reason and are unable to reschedule it
To provide the difference in cost to your Customer during the booking edit process (if the Customer is owed money back)
Keep in mind some of your Customers may not opt into Purchase Protection for their booking, and so you may want to retain your deposit or refund/cancellation policy for these Customers.
What kind of policy are my Customers purchasing?
FanShield’s product suite covers many of the perils that can keep someone from attending an event. From accidents and severe weather to family emergencies and the common cold, FanShield has you covered. As with any type of insurance, our coverage requires documentation when a claim is filed. However, FanShield makes the claims process as simple as possible. They give those who have filed a claim the ability to quickly and conveniently upload their documentation.
What if I have to cancel an event?
Purchase Protection only protects your Customers in the event that they cannot show up for a tour or event. If you need to cancel a tour or event, it is up to you to refund or reschedule the tour or event with your customers. If at all possible, it is recommended that you reschedule an event, rather than cancelling it.
I see TourShield, FanShield, and Protecht all as names for this Protection Product. Why?
Protecht and FanShield are essentially the same company as FanShield, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Protecht, Inc. That said, the difference is due to regulatory requirements and licensing. TourShield is the FanShield product offering for bookings but they also have RegShield for Registrations, FanShield for tickets, and additional products for participation and event cancellation.
