We’ve recently released a new feature we’re excited to share with you called the Product Builder. It provides a more convenient way to manage your availability and resources. Now it’s easy to create multiple products that share the same underlying assets.
With that said, not all features from the legacy Item Builder are available in the Product Builder yet. Our Product team is working hard to ensure the features you use with our classic version are available within the newest version. However, we want to get it right, and that takes time!
The table below gives you a quick run-down of some of the key changes.

What's changed from the Item Builder to the Product Builder?
Previously in the Item Builder | Description | Now in the Product Builder | Why? |
Items |
Over the years, our team and Operators found many clever workarounds to share and manage their inventory (aliases, hidden packages, etc), but at the core, Items are the things you sell to your guests. |
Assets and Products |
Products are an updated version of our legacy Items, with the new ability to help manage resources. Assets We wanted to provide a solution to the many workarounds that Operators had been using to manage and share their inventory in Item Builder by introducing a new feature to represent the resources they use. Assets are the vehicles, rooms, and equipment you use to deliver your Products.
|
Parameters |
Parameters were used to help Operators configure and manage the Quantity or Capacity of their inventory, which depended on how you configured your Item. |
Guest Type & Quantity |
After speaking with our Operators, we found that parameters were very challenging to learn how to use. To simplify things, we now allow you to choose Guest Types to use the capacity and always offer a simple Quantity control for your Products. These two selectors directly map to the assets your product is assigned to. |
Aliasing |
This feature was commonly used by Operators to achieve a limited type of resource management. |
Is now Assets |
Assets replace the need for controlling inventory via aliased Items. |
Hidden Required packages |
|||
Packages | Used to promote or upsell additional Items during the booking flow. Additionally, this feature was commonly used by Operators to achieve a limited type of resource management. |
Upsells |
Replace packages as only Upsell products. Meant to be an addition to the booking. |
Seasonal Item Events |
Item Events allow Operators to schedule the availability of their Items. This is commonly used for scheduling seasonal, weekly, or single-day availability. |
Availability Events |
Much like Item Events, Availability Events allow Operators to schedule the availability of their Products. This is commonly used for scheduling seasonal, weekly, or single-day availability. We’ve added a few extra tricks up the sleeve of our Availability Events, with custom hours of operation for time-based products and more predictable availability because Products are, by default, unavailable, meaning you simply create your product’s availability schedule. |
Closure Item Events |
Closure Item Events also allow Operators to schedule when their Items are closed. This is commonly used for scheduling time off, slow seasons, or holidays. |
Closure Events |
Just like Closure Item Events, Operators can schedule when their Products are closed. This is also commonly used for scheduling time off, slow seasons, or holidays. |
Rules |
Rules allowed Operators to apply conditional availability, pricing, or discounts to their Items. |
Availability Events |
In the Product Builder, we’ve streamlined the process of adding availability rules to your Products by allowing you to select availability rules directly from within the Availability Events editor. We are still working to add Discount and Pricing rules. |
Tiered Pricing |
To build a pricing structure that changed the rate of an Item based on the length of the booking, Operators had to create multiple rule sets and apply them with an equal number of Special Item Events to create a pricing structure we used to call Tiered Pricing. |
Custom Rates |
The previous workflow to create tiered pricing was error-prone and very repetitive. We sought to simplify the way Operators created this type of pricing structure by offering Custom Rates.
|
Inventory Calendar |
Operators used the Inventory Calendar to view and adjust the inventory available on a given day and time for an item. This calendar was also heavily used by Operators who had implemented workarounds for resource management. |
Inventory and Asset Calendar |
With the addition of Assets, we’ve created two separate views to let you independently manage the availability of your Products and Assets. |
