Feature Request: Enable multiple status selection for a Notification
Hi,
I believe there is already a feature request about this, but I've search the forum, and I can't find it; so I'm posting a new one here. (please move this to the existing feature request if you know where it is)
Currently, the Notification function only allow to select 1 booking status per Notification.
This means having to create duplicates if a notification applies to more than 1 status. And we all know duplicates are less than ideal (time consuming to maintain, and risk of mistakes/discrepancies).
Can you please allow to select 1 or more booking status per notification ?
Thanks

Hi there,
Thanks for this feedback. I agree duplication can be tedious. I have a few questions I was hoping you could answer:
- Are you wanting to send the same notification with multiple statuses?
- If so, can you explain a bit about the type of notification it is and what it helps you communicate to your guests?
Looking forward to your response.

Hi,
yes, same info is sent.
The status of a booking lives and varies based on certain factors: paid, shipped, returned, customer needs to confirm an address, etc etc
Therefore, at a given time, that booking may be in a multitude of statuses. Hence the need to enable a notification for a list of statuses.
Example:
I do equipment rental, that can be shipped to customers for a couple of weeks.
a few days before the end of the rental period, I need to send them a kind reminder, so they can prepare to pack for the courrier's collection. But at that time, (booking end - 2 days) the status of their booking may be: "Shipped", "Collected", "Paid" or "Confirmed"….
This currently means having to maintain 4 notifications instead of 1 in this example. (with the waste of time and risk of errors that involves).
I hope this clarifies things.
Thanks

does help understand the needs for a notification to be activated for multiple statuses ?

Hi Dedric Hourde!
Thanks for clarifying this for me. I see what you're saying. You use several custom statuses for different stages of a booking. As a result, this creates extra work when you need to trigger standard notifications (confirmation, paid, reminder, etc) OR you need to have duplicate notifications for the different types of custom statuses - sounds like you've chosen this route.
I like your suggestion to not necessarily have a notification tied to a specific status, but rather several statuses.
Alternatively, would this also work if you were able to make a notification that wasn't tied to a status, but used the booking end date as a trigger instead, or do you like to specificity of using the custom statuses?
Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Ryan Lainchbury
I do like & need the combination of status + dates for complex notifications.
- I do have [instant] notifications triggered by a change to a specific status. (it's usually a temporary status used only for the purpose to trigger a notification)
- In some cases, I guess a notification would only need to be triggered by a date (start, or end);
- in some other cases, a notification would only apply to 1 status;
- But most of my notifications need to apply to multiple statuses (but not all) and are triggered by dates.
So I think the best would be to add the capacity of multiple status selection to the current notification system.
Thanks

Ryan Lainchbury, to follow up on this one, see below a screenshot of some of my notifications.
you'll notice that for instance, my Notification group #1 requires 5 individual notifications, all containing the exact same text & trigger & destination, one for each of the 5 statuses it applies to.
In this case, 2 days before the actual booking finishes, I want to send the customer a reminder that the rental period is coming to an end. At this point, the booking status is not always the same, and may be any of the 5 selected ones (Reserved, Deposit, Paid, Shipped, Invoice).
Sam principle applies to group #2, 3 and so on… This is not ideal, especially when I need to update a notification, or create a new one...
Please consider this feature request and make the appropriate change.
Thanks
