Item event with rolling date?Answered
Hello there -
I am trying to find a way to create a rolling inventory availability only for 14 days out.
The use case is that at this property we offer a culinary vacation package, which is a 7-day package, which comes with lodging.
In case all the rooms aren't tied up with culinary package guests, they're sold on Airbnb. But as the primary goal is to sell culinary packages, we don't want Airbnb guests to be able to book a room for, say, 30 days from now. They should only be able to do so if it's in the next 14 days.
I was thinking of these solutions:
1.) Set the room inventory to "Unavailable" and have an Item Event that makes them available 14 days in the future... But I'm not sure how to make it automatically change daily... something I've been trying to do for other uses (such as automatically lowering the price on rooms not sold within 48 hours), but have always found I have to go in every day and change the dates in the item event.
2.) Set up a rule set that only accepts bookings 14 days or less in the future.
One of my concerns is that we still need to attach that room inventory to the culinary academy guests, so I need it to be user friendly for staff to be able to do that without workarounds or being blocked by the rule.
I'm open to any suggestions!
Hey Patrick Diamond 👋🏻
I have a solution using option 2, for you.
Essentially we will create a Rule with a 'Forward Booking Window' of 14. In the rule, you can unselect Staff so that this only applies to customers. Found from Inventory > Rules > New Rule Set.
Next, you will create a new Item Event (Inventory > Item Events > Create New Event). The Item Event will be seasonal to enforce the Rule. Fill in the required information (Name, Dates, etc), select the Rule you made from the dropdown. Lastly, select the items you would like to have this 2-week booking rule apply to.
Here are some quick generic guides on Rules and Item Events for you!Comment actions
