Applying date restrictions
You can use the Date Restrictions setting to apply date restrictions to your upsell. By default, there are no restrictions. The Guest can book the upsell for any day it is available. You can also choose from the following options.
Use parent dates (and times)
Select the Use parent dates (and times) option to have the upsell inherit the same date and time restrictions as the parent.
Within parent dates
Specify the within parent dates option if the upsell must use a date within the parent's date range.
Custom (date restrictions)
You can use the custom option to book dates relative to the parent product dates. Your options are:
Allow starting
- Allow upsell booking to start [a number] of days After the Parent Start Date
- Allow upsell booking to start [a number] of days After the Parent End Date
- Allow upsell booking to start [a number] of days Before the Parent Start Date
- Allow upsell booking to start [a number] of days Before the Parent End Date
Allow ending
- Allow upsell booking to end [a number] of days After the Parent Start Date
- Allow upsell booking to end [a number] of days After the Parent End Date
- Allow upsell booking to end [a number] of days Before the Parent Start Date
- Allow upsell booking to end [a number] of days Before the Parent End Date
|
Use case example For example, you may wish the upsell to be bookable three days before the parent product's start date or two days after. |
|
Upsell booking cannot start after start date While the above booking rule options are flexible, you cannot have an upsell booking end date after the start date, of course! |
Allowing time adjustment
The Allow time adjustment setting for upsell products determines whether the upsell's time must match the parent product's time exactly.
Your parent product and upsells must be configured with availability based on timeslots or flextime increments to use this setting.
The default for an upsell is Use Parent Dates with Allow Time Adjustment set to off, which tells the system to book the upsell for the same start and end dates and times as the parent product.
Configuring this setting with timeslots
This section explains how this setting functions with timeslots.
Behavior when you have turned off this setting (default)
- The upsell timeslots must match the parent timeslots exactly.
- The parent timeslot must have a matching available upsell timeslot for the system to consider it available.
Behavior when you have turned on this setting
- Upsell timeslots do not need to match parent timeslots exactly.
- The parent timeslot only needs at least one available upsell timeslot on the same date for the system to consider it available.
|
Use case example If a parent product and a lunch add-on upsell have different start/end times, turning on Allow Time Adjustment fixes the booking so the upsell doesn't need to match the parent's exact times.
For example, if you have a parent product with a timeslot at 10:00 AM–11:00 AM and an upsell with slots at 09:00 AM–10:00 AM and 11:00 AM–12:00 PM:
|
Turn on the Inherit Parent Guest Types setting to have the upsell inherit the parent's availability. You must configure the parent product and upsell with availability based on all day, nightly, or timeslots.
With this setting turned on, the system restricts the upsell amount to the same as the parent product. For example, the Guest can book one kayak rental with the option to add one picnic basket.
If you have turned off the setting, there are no quantity restrictions on this upsell. For example, the Guest can book one kayak rental with the option to add one or more picnic baskets, subject to inventory and availability.
Guest Type Mapping
Finally, if both the parent and child products use guest types to determine who can access the product, offer it as an upsell for your kayak. You need to map the primary product (parent) guest types to the upsell (child) guest types. The mapping of guest types can vary depending on how you have configured your products.

Adding an Upsell to Multiple Products You can add an upsell to more than one product! For example, if you add a picnic lunch as a product, you can offer it as an upsell for your kayak, bike, and walking tours. Inventory adjusts according to your settings. |
|
Optional Upsells and myallocator When an optional upsell is attached to a product, the upsell's availability overrides the system's send to myallocator. This behavior prevents the product from being booked to its full availability through myallocator. Until we resolve this issue, please create a separate, staff-only product without upsells to sync to myallocator. Follow these steps:
