Field mapping is the process of matching the columns in your CSV file to Checkfront’s item fields. It ensures your data arrives correctly — wrong mappings lead to errors or missing info.

Admin permission to manage Inventory.
Which Checkfront version supports this feature - Classic Items, Classic Products, or both?
- Your account must have access to classic items (Inventory > Items), a key feature of our Classic Items version of Checkfront.
- This feature is not yet supported with classic products (Inventory > Products), a key feature of our Classic Products version of Checkfront.
How to map fields
Open Inventory → Import in Checkfront.
Choose your CSV file and upload.
On the Field Mapping screen:
a. Select the corresponding field from your CSV's dropdown for each column header.
b. If no mapping is needed, leave blank.
c. Map only required fields first, then optional/custom ones.Review the sample preview (if available) to verify data looks correct.
Click Import to start the import process.
- Click Import Now! to confirm your intentions.
- If you have doubts, click the No, I need to fix something! button to return to the mapping step.
Assuming everything went according to plan, you now see a confirmation of your latest success:
At this point, you can view your imports at Inventory > Items.
