Creating new discounts
To create a new discount for your products, click the + New Discount button on the Discounts home page (Inventory > Discounts), as explained in the previous article. Then, you can start entering the information you need, as described below.
|
More than one discount applies If Customers apply multiple discounts to the same product during a specific period, the system applies the highest discount. For example, A product costs $100.00 with 50%, 20%, $5.00, and $80 discounts applicable to the product booking.
In this case, the system applies the highest discount of $80.00. We advise against applying fixed and percentage discounts to the same product for simplicity's sake. A customer using a discount code will override any other discounts. |
Specifying discount names
You can specify a descriptive Name for the discount (e.g., June Special), limited to 50 characters. Names are used internally for reporting and are visible to the Customer on the invoice.
|
Give descriptive names to vouchers and discounts Be sure to give your vouchers and all discounts descriptive names to help you find them in internal reports, for example, Summer Promo 10% Per Booking, After Tax. |
Determining discount amounts
Specify the discount Amount. This amount is the discount value you want to apply to the booking.
Specifying discount types
Specify whether the discount is a percentage or a fixed amount.
Configuring discount periods
With the Discount period setting, you can set the valid date range for the discount.
• Always Valid
By default, the system sets the Discount period to Always valid. The system does not define these discounts by date.
• Date Range
You can turn off the Always Valid switch to show the Date Range field. You can choose a start and end date using the date picker in the displayed fields.
The discount is always valid if you do not set the date range.
|
Applied discount date range The discount date range applies to a booking's start and end dates, not the date the system created the booking. Ensure that the booking dates are within the discount's active date range. |
• Applicable Days
You select which days of the week the discount applies. For example, if you want the discount to be used only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between June 14th and July 14th, 2024.
Deciding how to use the discount
With the How to use this discount setting, you can choose the type of discount you create. You can choose from a discount code or a voucher code.
• Creating discount codes
Choose the Discount code option if you want Customers to enter a code to be eligible for the discount.
Enter a unique code in the Discount field provided. In this case, the Customer must enter this code, which is not case-sensitive, to receive the discount.
You can leave the Discount field blank if you don't want to require a code to apply the discount. In this case, the discount applies automatically to all applicable products.
The discount code should be alphanumeric and not contain any spaces.
This code can be used by multiple customers more than once.
|
Products and open discounts Products do not support applying an open discount at this time. |
• Creating voucher codes
Choose the Voucher code option to offer discount codes for one-time use.
You can upload a CSV file with the list of codes. Drop or select a CSV file to upload using the Voucher code field provided.

Next, you need to select how to apply the discounts.
Selecting how to apply discounts
Those using discount or voucher codes must select how to apply the discounts.
• Per Product, Per Quantity Booked
The system applies the discount to each applicable product added to the booking.
The discount is calculated based on the current price and quantity of each applicable product booked.
For example, a $5.00 discount per applicable product booked (x3) = $15.00.
• Per Booking, After Tax
The system applies the discount to the order subtotal after tax. For example, ($100 + 5% tax) - $10 discount = $95.00
• Per Booking, Before Tax
The system applies the discount to the subtotal before tax. For example, ($100 - $10 discount) + 5% tax = $94.50
|
Customers and payable taxes If you offer a 100% discount, the Customer is still responsible for the taxes if you set the discount to per booking after tax. If set to per product, the Customer does not owe anything upon checkout. |
|
Per booking discounts Per booking discounts apply to the overall subtotal of the booking rather than to individual products. Currently, it is not possible to configure a per booking discount that excludes specific products from the subtotal. |
Applying discounts to products
Product discounts do not apply to your inventory by default. You must select specific products or categories to which the discount applies.
Click Select All to apply the discount to all categories and products.
Click Select None to deselect all categories and products.
