Personalizing your gift certificates helps you deliver a more polished, branded experience to your customers. This article shows you how to manage theme options, including default, blank, and custom themes, so you can control how your certificates look, replace built-in designs, and upload your own images to align with your company’s style.

Choosing between default, blank, and custom themes
Using blank themes
Turn ON the Blank Theme setting if you prefer not to use a theme. No image displays at the top of the gift certificate if selected.
Using default themes
You can offer themed gift certificates to your Customers. By default, the Default Themes setting is turned ON.
Checkfront comes with a set of three themes - Celebration, Seasonal, and Summer. Customers can choose one of these three themes to apply to the Gift Certificate they are purchasing if the default theme setting is enabled.

Replacing default themes If you don't wish to use the global default themes for your Gift Certificates, you can replace them with a set of your own images under Gift Certificate Settings. Click here for more information. Alternatively, you can upload custom themes for each gift certificate template as described below. |
Using custom themes
You can also replace the default theme by uploading a custom theme specifically designed for the gift certificate in focus.
- Go to Inventory > Gift Certificates and open a template.
- Navigate to Details > Media.
- Turn off the Default Themes setting.
- Click the + Add a Theme button that becomes visible under the Custom Themes section.
- Upload an image from your computer when prompted. You can upload up to 5 custom themes.

Theme image requirements

Once you have uploaded your image, you can work with your theme by naming, editing, or deleting it.
Naming themes
To name your custom theme:
- Go to Inventory > Gift Certificates and open a template.
- Navigate to Details > Media.
- Enter the theme name directly into the Name your theme field under the Custom Themes section.
- The system automatically saves your changes.
Editing themes
To change the focal point of a larger image:
- Go to Inventory > Gift Certificates and open a template.
- Navigate to Details > Media.
- Hover over the Custom Theme.
- Click on Edit Image to open the Image Thumbnail Editor.
- Select the area to crop, expanding and relocating the selection as needed.
- Click Save to save your changes. The custom theme is now added to your library under Custom Themes.
Deleting themes
- Go to Inventory > Gift Certificates and open a template.
- Navigate to Details > Media.
- Hover over the Custom Theme.
- Click the trash can icon to remove the theme.
- Click the Yes, Delete button to delete the image.
- The system automatically saves your changes.
